    My Nilambur  Nilambur gets its name from word nilimba, which means Bamboo. But actually the place is fame for teak,hence it is also called teak town ,because of abundance of teak trees. Nilambur comes in Malappuram district, there is 21 villages in nilambur consistuency.Nilambur is situated on the banks of chaliyar river in proximity to Nilgiri range. The teaks for the construction of uru  , a kind of ships those were used for maritime trade through beypore   port, were usually taken from Nilambur Teak Forests. The oldest teak plantation of the world in the Conolly's plot is just two km  from the town.  . Nilambur teak plantation is particularly famous for the oldest teak tree in the world- Kannimari.
